So, despite how it looks on FA, I've been drawing an awful lot lately. However, it's been more of the mundane variety, so I haven't been posting it up here and have been putting it on my Twitter instead. I'll put this stuff in scraps for now, as it's almost all been sketchwork, but let me know if you guys want more of this!
I've been taking a self-directed comics course for the past couple of weeks. I basically want to improve myself a bit and see if I have what it takes to do some sequential story-telling in art. It's been a great experience, but definitely takes some work to follow all the assignments and exercises.
Because the first chapter had me doing near-indecipherable doodles with time limits as low as 5(!) seconds, I figured I'd post up the exercise from the second chapter instead. The instructions were to draw seven 'panels' on notecards with somewhat random prompts: Seen in a dream, something 'sexy', something seen today, something mundane, funniest thing you can think of, abstract, and the saddest thing you can think of.
Before that exercise, I had to write five phrases based on seemingly unconnected prompts: something heard today, a question, interjection, something I said, and a catchphrase.
Then I had to combine the two exercises and choose five panels that worked best with the five phrases. The goal was to find the funniest or most interesting combinations.
I don't have the abstract and saddest panel prompts up here because I didn't use them for the combination exercise. Plus they weren't very good.

Nobody gets anywhere without practice. Every one of us started in the same place, and got better through practice, trying new things, following the Sempai, and discovering the zillions of ways not to do it.

Heh, well, to be fair, it IS supposed to be Legoshi ;) I had a weird visual of him in a dream and had to draw it for this assignment. And, yeah, that lion thing is not Kon, but was an attack from a character from the game BlazBlue that I saw earlier that day. Definitely very similar!
